Sega GG is a portable console produced by Sega in 1990. It appeared to be a sort of response to Nintendo's GB. Sega GG was the third portable console with color graphics, after the its close competitors TurboExpress and Atari Lynx.
The console went on sale in the late 1990 in Japan. It became available in the USA, Europe and Brazil in 1991, and a year later in Australia. Some gaming experts admitted that it felt like Sega was trying to make a pocket 8-bit gaming system that would outperform GB. And it did in some way. Unlike GB, the GG system had a color screen, supported expansion modules inserted into the cartridge slot, and the console itself was more comfortable. There were also special Super Wide Gear lens sold separately from the console.
And although this console was not as popular as the GB, it firmly held its market niche and was officially maintained until 1997, which indicated a great potential of GGear. In 2000, Majesco resumed its production in a slightly modified package.
A total of 233 titles were released for the console in the United States and almost 200 each in Japan and Europe, the most popular of which were Sonic the Hedgehog and all Sonic series. And we have them all in our game Gear ROM set. If you don’t want to download the full game Gear full ROM set right away, you are free to choose any GG ROM from the list.
